Bringing Heaven Down to Earth

I’ve never particularly liked the word “spiritual.”

Since we humans are mortal and flawed, it seems presumptuous for us to think that we can be declared spiritual.

But I believe it is absolutely essential for us to become spirited.

And spirited is the ability to create something in your own image and breathe life into it.

It’s what we are told that God did with humans.

So therefore, humans who wish to incite a “divine possibility” must likewise take things that are inert and give them breath.

It is too easy to complain about Earth, thinking that Heaven is going to be better.

What if we get to Heaven and arrive with a bad case of PTSD? In other words, the shock of the war on Earth has left us frightened—leery of choirs of angels and trumpets blowing?

We have a simple mission:

To take what we believe Heaven possesses and generate an Earthly model.

In doing so, our complaining will ebb.

Our negativity becomes embarrassed.

And we start looking for evidence of intelligent life on the Third Planet from the Sun.

 

Three Ways to Overcome Laziness … January 22, 2015

Convinced I was a worthless bum who had no intention of earning money for a living to take care of myself and my family, friends and loved ones agreed to pursue a campaign of “tough love” by alienating me from their affection and refusing to contribute to my well-being.

They had decided years before that I needed to be a preacher, or if I didn’t want to pursue that occupation, I should take the first job I could find and be happy to have it.

I didn’t agree.

My disagreement left me confused and rejected by those who claimed to love me, making me want to do very little except hang out or sleep. I was dubbed an “indigent piece of crap.”

The truth of the matter is, I had not yet discovered a way to do what I wanted to do and make enough money to silence my critics.

• I was just a kid.
• I needed guidance, not criticism.
• I needed to think and not be expected to respond.

Having no counsel, comfort–or friendship, for that matter, I launched into a trial-and-error lifestyle, seeking a way to acquire my heart’s desire without starving to death.

I found that the key to overcoming laziness was to pursue a goal in life that excites you every morning–and then, once you find that treasure, chase after three very important principles:

1. Always start with something simple.

There is a danger in dreaming too big. All of our dreams must be swallowed–digested–to give us energy, and if they’re too large, they’ll choke us.

Find something you can do, do it well and see what happens.

2. Avoid pursuing other people’s agendas.

Remember, you’ve been created once, in God’s image. To allow yourself to be created in somebody else’s image is not only foolishness, but an insult to your original Creator. Other people will try to make you do what works for them, and when it doesn’t work, they will blame you instead of their own bad counsel.

3. Use what you have.

Many people become lazy because they believe they lack the needed resources to begin their task. If you find you need something to stimulate your pursuit, then you should tone down your expectation to dispel your need.

We all can begin.

Sometimes we’re arrogant and don’t want to accept a small start, but if you use what you have, you don’t have to borrow from your detractors.

I suppose there are lazy people. But I choose to believe that most individuals who find themselves stymied and absent work are just unable to access their passion and pursue it by starting simple, avoiding other people’s agendas and quietly using what they have.

A mite of monkey

A little lion

A bit of bird

A teaspoon of turtle

A cup of camel

A dab of dog

A pinch of perch

And a dash of dinosaur.

Human beings. That’s who we are.

We are the storage warehouse–the culmination of all evolution–and the art museum for the Creator’s masterpieces.

Yet “we’re human” is used as an excuse instead of a motivation.

Politics loves the populie, “we’re only human,” because it provides an adequate excuse for the latest scandal.

Entertainment extols the virtue of our limitations so as to look on the darker side of our appetites, providing for a more venial outlook on our progress as a species.

And of course, religion feels the need to make us look as weak as possible in an attempt to maintain the strength of the Almighty.

We get sucked up in it.

We begin to believe that we are just part of the animal kingdom, even though Jesus jokingly, tongue in cheek, told the disciples they were worth “many sparrows.”

If we do gain a moment’s breath of spirituality, we’re encouraged to seek false humility in our attempt to worship God instead of seeking the “Christ in us,” which is the hope of glorious things happening.

Here are three things about human beings. I would ask you to place them deep in your memory banks and make sure, the next time you’re feeling sorry for yourself, that you recall these ample axioms:

1. We are created in God’s image.

If you’re an atheist, you are still aware that going into business with what you perceive to be your nearest relative, the chimpanzee, would certainly make for a failed project. We are unique by creation. If you do not believe in such a thing, we at least are unique by design.

2. We can feel, pray, think and do our way into or out of any difficulty.

There is no other species which has ever lived on earth with that quartet of possibilities.

3. We can choose to love.

Other animals mate, have bonds, maintain connections through offspring, but never really get the choice of loving.

These three things, combined, grant us an inner aura of divine nature, which can either be tapped or drained. The choice is yours.

But do not allow yourself to become part of a culture which, in an attempt to do away with God and personal responsibility, degrades the human being down to the level of porpoise instead of uplifting us to purpose.

Life is moving fast. Often we must decide in a single breath of time whether to remain where we are and “be” or depart, to serve elsewhere–“leave”:

1. People are challenged to think. BE

2. Thinking is challenged by people.  LEAVE

3. God is loving and willing to receive.  BE

4. God has an unchanging will that leaves some people out.  LEAVE

5. Creativity is honored.  BE

6. Repetition is worshipped and revered.  LEAVE

7. Some people are better than others. LEAVE

8. NoOne is better than anyone else.  BE

9.  Feelings are expressed.  BE

10. Feelings are repressed. LEAVE

11. Political parties are promoted.  LEAVE

12. Women and men are different and at odds.  LEAVE

13. In God’s eyes there is neither male or female. BE

14. The devil and God are engaged in a great battle. LEAVE

15. There is no battle because God is in control.  BE

16. People are evil.  LEAVE

17. People are created in God’s image.  BE

18. Careful! Life is dangerous.  LEAVE

19. Stay involved without fear. Life is what we have.  BE

20. The end is near.  LEAVE

21. Let’s end the fear.  BE

22. Judge according to the word of God.  LEAVE

23. Just don’t judge.  BE

24. Be in prayer at all times. LEAVE

25. Be of good cheer. BE

Whatever welcomes people to love each other and find the simplicity of a Fathering God, BE. Whatever suspects humans of continual evil in an attempt to please a God who is obviously paranoid, LEAVE.

BE.
