Donald John Trump is our President.

It is a position we are compelled to honor due to the tenacity of our struggle as a nation and the grace extended to us as a people.

In the fury of opinions and the peril of hurling insults, it is good every once in a while, to stop and acknowledge what is true and what is honest.

This gentleman won the election to be our leader in 2016.

With this in mind, and my heart full of compassion and dutiful propriety, let me offer the following observations:

Mr. President:

1. Dictators have no redeeming values.

To focus on their might pilfers our great arsenal of what is right.

2. They that live by the military shall die by the military.

Every nation, kingdom and territory over the centuries that tried to maintain its integrity through the use of force has eventually been cruelly overtaken.

3. The measure you measure out to others will be measured back to you.

There are some souls who have learned the value of being gracious, and other human beings who are barely out of the jungle—with blood in their teeth. It is good for each of us to remember that we increase our possibilities for survival and mercy by offering them first.

4. And speaking of mercy, the grace that we all often need to survive the tribulation and chaos of Planet Earth is only granted to the humble.

The whole system of Mother Nature is geared to resist the proud.

5. Not everyone who cries “Lord, Lord” shall enter the Kingdom.

With the profession of being a Christian comes the responsibility of following the lifestyle of the Master—Jesus himself.

6. Pussies don’t like to be grabbed.

If an invitation is not extended, it is an assault.

7. “Suffer the children to come unto me.”

This does not mean to make the children suffer, as they are separated.

 8. Alienating nations, races and people of the Earth is rejecting their Creator’s craftsmanship.

Building walls creates nothing more than anger—and saying that there are “no good Samaritans” may leave you by the side of the road, without aid.

9. It is truth that makes us free.

Therefore it stands to reason that lying steals our freedom.

10. It is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks.

And when the mouth speaks, the hearts that receive the words begin to accumulate an abundance.

Thank you, President Trump. Thank you for listening to these observations.

You are our President. We offer you place.

There are matters that are too important to ignore or leave to chance. These are salient moments.

“With great regard.”

It is a phrase that was often used to describe the honor given to truth. “With great regard for the truth.”

Gradually, painfully, and almost silently, we have taken the truth and set it aside, believing it to be impractical. Lying seems to be a “second nature” condition of human beings. Folks feel more comfortable viewing it that way. Assuming people are lying takes away the responsibility to hear the truth.

Yet no lie survives history. In other words:

• Alexander wasn’t so great.
• The Third Reich did not last for a thousand years.
• And the Crusades achieved nothing except the deaths of innocents.

All lies are eventually exposed.

So what is truth? Is the Bible truth? Unfortunately, the Good Book has been used for a lot of bad. There are doctrines which were promoted years ago, which have proven to be too stringent.

After all, there were no witches in Salem, there is no way to prohibit human couples from divorcing, and gay people can’t live their entire lives closeted.

So truth is not about laws or regulations from government or religion. Truth, very simply, is: “Based upon what we know, this is the way things appear to be.”

But we need a way to get there. Yes–we need a way to speak the truth that will give us life. Truth can never be achieved unless it’s greased by the motivation of love.

Truth told without love is vengeance.

Truth told without love reeks of lies.

And truth told without love takes life instead of giving it.

If we use love to humbly speak the best of our knowledge, we will gain life.

And what do we mean by life? Permission to continue our freedom as long as we grant it to others.

When we disregard truth and we begin to use pride, vengeance and selfishness to generate the lies that hurt others, we eventually will have our own lives snatched from us.

There is a way that leads to truth, which brings us life. If we use love to speak the truth we presently know, then we’ll be given a life we can live freely.

So here is your salient moment: Just because the inclination is lying, it does not mean that lying can ever settle in and find peace.

After all, it is the truth that makes us free.

G-Pop is somewhat concerned that his children are falling under the spell of the presumptive conclusion of, “Well, of course…”

Society is always in a hurry to come to the conclusion which seems to be most comfortable for the majority of those who have gathered to deliberate possibilities.

We love to take votes.

We love to find out what the plurality of the electorate feel, and then declare that notion to be holy by the sheer brute force of numbers.

For instance, at one time in our nation, we felt:

• “Well, of course black people are not humans.”
• “Well, of course man can’t fly.”
• “Well, of course the Union can be split into two countries.”
• “Well, of course homosexuals are mentally ill.”
• “Well, of course we can spread democracy to the battling countries in the Middle East.”

All of these assertions had great popular appeal, and if you dared to stand against them, you were ridiculed, if not completely ostracized.

Matter of fact, G-Pop is very nervous when he hears people begin any speech with, “Well, of course…”

Three of these are particularly dubious and need another good inspection.

1. “Well, of course people should have freedom.”

Who says? Freedom is a fuel. It isn’t an engine. There has to be a good engine for the fuel of freedom to generate power.

A very wise man once said, “It is the truth that makes us free.”

So the fuel of freedom needs to stoke the engine of truth. Without truth, freedom becomes the abstract pursuit of those who avoid taking their proper place as human souls. And what is truth? Truth is always what includes the most people while giving respect to how the world works.

2. “Well, of course men and women are different.”

We’ve practically turned this concept into a religion. Half the comedians would lose their living wage if they didn’t pad their monologues with jokes about the gender wars.

But here’s the problem–men aren’t going away, nor are women. Men aren’t going to be dominant–likewise, neither are women.

The sexes have many similarities and a few differences–and the differences exist to teach us the responsibility of adjusting to one another. We are not going to be able to ignore the feelings of other people and come out righteous.

We have a responsibility to find common ground.

3. “Well, of course each one of us has a destiny.”

It’s part of the “snowflake theorem” which maintains that every snowflake is different. Likewise, every human being is carved with specific points of interest. But if a snowflake is different, by the time it gets to earth it gets the “drift,” loses its “flake” and becomes just snow.

We do not have a destiny.

We have free will.

We can use our free will to be obnoxious, waiting for the world to take care of us, or we can use those choices to step in and take care of our world.

These are the latest “Well, of courses…” that currently taunt us with false ideas. In a short time, they will be mocked as utter foolishness.

What will always remain, says G-Pop to his children, is the truth which teaches us the responsibility to use our free will wisely.
